Yes – Ultrasounds have been in use since the 1960’s for evaluating pregnancies and according to the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (March 19, 2007) “There is no confirmed adverse biological effects on patients resulting from this usage”. According to Centers of Disease Control, the guiding principle of ultrasound safety is “ALARA”. ALARA stands for “as low as reasonably achievable”. For this reason, Babyface 4D Ultrasound studio limits our sessions to no longer than 25 minutes. Some studies have indicated that obtaining your Baby’s heartbeat recording may be harmful at earlier than 12 weeks, so we have decided not to book sessions any earlier.
We also want you to know that one of the reasons we chose the GE Voluson E8 is because it was designed specifically with women’s health in mind. All of our scans are conducted in the machine’s Obstetrics Application Mode so that the ultrasound energy used is capped below FDA limits for obstetrical ultrasound.
Your doctor may order diagnostic ultrasounds at different times during your pregnancy to measure for growth and check for anomalies among other reasons. The ultrasound sessions performed at Babyface are for entertainment and keepsake purposes only. We will not be looking for anything related to your or your Baby’s health.
2D Ultrasounds show the Baby in grayscale. You can see Baby’s movements and outlines of their bodies, limbs, organs and bones.
3D Ultrasound images capture still images of Baby. These are like a photo of your Baby.
4D Ultrasounds show your Baby’s movements, like yawning, facial expressions, and gestures.
HD Live is the latest in Elective Ultrasound technology and shows the best of 3D/4D in more true to life coloring and detail.
This mostly depends on what you are looking for. If you are planning to come for only one visit, we recommend coming between 25-32 weeks when your Baby’s features are more developed and there is still lots of amniotic fluid and space! However, we have achieved great images from 12 to 38 weeks! We offer a multi-session discount through our Watch Me Grow package if you would like to see your baby several times throughout your pregnancy. Here are some guidelines that might help you decide when to book your appointment.
Hearing Baby’s heartbeat and getting a first glance at Baby – 12 to 16 weeks.
Gender determination – 13-20 weeks
See Baby’s Face in 3D/4D/HD Live– 27-31 Weeks
Hydration is, by far, the most important thing you can do to help ensure good images. Drink lots of water (64 oz a day, in general) in the week or two leading up to your appointment. The more fluid there is at the time of your session, the better your results will be. It also helps if you have a good meal about an hour or so before your appointment and drink some fruit juice to get your Baby moving.
Also – it is best to wear clothing that allows us access to your tummy, such as pants and a shirt. Dresses are not recommended.
At Babyface, we know the most important part of your session is getting good images of your Little One. There are many factors that could inhibit this result including how far along you are, the Baby’s position, fluid levels and Mama’s hydration and condition. Every ultrasound is different, and although we cannot always meet everyone’s expectations as to how the photos come out or make any promises, we will do everything we can to achieve good images during your session. If we are unable to see Baby’s face, or determine gender (depending on the package you chose) we will invite you back for another session within a few days at no charge to you.
We require two things: That you are receiving prenatal care and that you have had a diagnostic ultrasound before your session. As exciting as it is, Elective Prenatal Ultrasound is no substitute for health care!
Yes! Our studio seats six people comfortably, but we can accommodate a few more, especially if some of them are children!
You can always call us at (209) 322-2042 or make an appointment on our website, or find us on Instagram or Facebook @babyface.oakdale!
We accept cash, debit card, and major credit cards. Your medical insurance does not cover Elective Prenatal Ultrasounds.
A phlebotomist will draw a small sample of blood from the Mommy and it is sent to Sneak Peek’s lab for testing. They will test the blood for male DNA – if it is present, you’re having a boy! If not, you’re having a girl!
Sneak Peek is able to provide results as early as 8 weeks! Use the calculator to determine if you are eligible: https://sneakpeektest.com/pregnancy-calculator/
Your sample is mailed to SneakPeek Labs via Priority Mail Express (aka “overnight mail”).
FastTrack customers: Expect your result email between 6-9pm Pacific Time the day your sample is received by SneakPeek.
Standard customers: Expect your result email between 1-5pm Pacific Time the day after your sample is received by SneakPeek.
SneakPeek Clinical is the most accurate early gender test on the market. If your test result does not match the gender of your newborn, you’ll receive a full refund.
Clinical studies have shown that fetal DNA clears from mom’s bloodstream between a few hours to 2 days after birth.
In the case of identical twins, if male DNA is found, then both babies are boys. If no male DNA is found, then both babies are girls. For fraternal twins (or more!), finding male DNA will confirm at least one baby is a boy, but cannot distinguish if the second is a boy or girl.
